QUT is calling for expressions of interest from artists, designers & scientists for a design incorporating an aspect of science to promote Science Week. The billboard is a 47m x 9.4M wall at the QUT Creative Industries Precinct fronting Kelvin Grove Road in Brisbane.

Ability First Australia Patron Therese Rein welcomed CEO’s, Directors and member organisation client families to a reception at Kirribilli House in Sydney today. Also present was Ability First ambassador Ian “Macca” McNamara. Speech of the event was by client ambassador Riana Head-Toussaint–Year 12 student from Sydney’s northern beaches who gave an insight into living with a disability and services she receives from the Northcott Disability Services.
Project H, a nonprofit focused on product design to empower the socially overlooked. Project H has created water transportation devices for a community in South Africa, learning playgrounds for schools in Uganda, the Dominican Republic, and North Carolina, and social programs in Austin and Los Angeles. Emily will speak at the SEGD Conference Washington DC, USA in June 2010.

Brisbane City Council has released the Toowong-Auchenflower Renewal Strategy. Hope this will encourage the redevelopment of the Toowong central precinct including the current Woolworths site. For an area so close to the CBD there has been little significant change for a long time and there are major development sites idle and/or with blank facades to street frontages.
