Action Group Australia which is a private holdings company for Middle East investment funds is proposing to build a 27 level hotel tower, managed by the Novotel group for a site on the corner of Elizabeth Street and George Street, Brisbane.
The tower has originally undergone three different designs prior to this latest design and will preserve the current heritage listed facades on Elizabeth street which will also be illuminated at night by LED lighting. The building will utilise it’s position on the skyline by adding Novotel signage on the top level of the tower, while the north-eastern facing elevation of the building will feature pixilated urban artwork.

The City of Sydney is calling for curatorial proposals for laneway artwork in the city. The City of Melbourne has defined a model for laneway artwork management covering design, construction, installation and removal. I look forward to seeing Sydney small spaces enlivened. Brisbane could get into the act with a laneway (Burnett, Eagle, GPO etc) artwork programme to support ICOGRADA Design Week on 11-17 October.

Designed by Queensland firm Whitearchitecture for the Gold Coast City Council, the Southport Broadwater Parklands will play host to major sporting and cultural events and includes a 120 metre long pier as well as an outdoor stage.
Taking its inspiration from the surrounding sails and boats, the structure reflects its maritime setting with its pure geometric shapes. The landscape architects on the project were EDAW, who created an effective layout, which features interconnecting walkways highlighting the Broadwater and Surfers Paradise skyline with seating areas in key viewpoints.
The Parklands development includes several pavilions; the Pier Pavilion; Outdoor Stage; a Southport pier; an Amenities Building; and BBQ pavilions.
